MIAMI, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's soccer team (0-2) battled FIU (1-0) on Sunday afternoon but a pair of late goals from the Panthers forced JU to settle for another hard-luck loss, 2-0.
Courtney Green did everything she could in net to keep this one tight. She made two saves but faced 13 total shots.
Anna Remensnyder registered three shots while four others each tried one,
Hannah Billie had two. Jacksonville managed a total of three shots on goal.
The first score of the match game 79 minutes in and as the Dolphins pushed forward to try and capture the equalizer, FIU slipped past the defense and added a second score in the 82nd minute to put a bow on this one. Jacksonville generated a pair of corner kicks following those goals but a Billie header wide was as close as they'd come in this one.
Up next for the Dolphins is a matchup with ASUN foe Kennesaw State on Friday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at Southern Oak Stadium. That match will serve as the regular season home debut for new head coach
John Constable. It will be the first of back-to-back home matches for the Dolphins who'll host FIU on Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.
