ATLANTA, Ga. - Five Jacksonville University women's lacrosse players have been named to the ASUN Conference All-Academic team, conference officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Seniors Jenny Kinsey, Casey Sullivan and juniors Maddie Sturgell, Molly Brock, Beth Cornelius were tabbed to the 12-player roster.
Kinsey, an unanimous selection to the ASUN All-Academic Team, is an attack from Columbia, Maryland. She is pursuing a degree in Marketing Professional Sales along with a minor in Chemistry and holds a 3.93 GPA. During her time at JU, she has earned a spot on the Dean's List twice and the President's List five times. Last December, Kinsey was recognized as a Top 25 Student in the Davis College of Business for her success in the classroom. In the future, she plans to pursue her MBA and a career in the medical device sales field.
Outside of the classroom, Kinsey serves as one of the captains on this year's team. Her success on the field has landed her spots on the ASUN Conference All-Tournament Team and the ASUN All-Conference First Team.
The next senior, Sullivan, is a defender from Ellicott City, Maryland. She is studying Business Administration and plans to later earn her MBA in hopes of having a career that allows her to implement her leadership, organizational skills and personal skills. Joining Kinsey, she was also named a Top 25 Student by the Davis College of Business. In her three years as a Dolphin, Sullivan has been named to the Dean's List twice and the President's List three times after holding a 3.931 GPA.
Also a captain on this year's team, Sullivan was named to the ASUN All-Conference First Team.
The first junior on the list, Brock, is a midfielder from Rockville, Maryland. She plans to double major in Business Analytics and Management and is interested in pursuing an MBA upon completing her undergraduate degree. Her success in the classroom has propelled her to four Dean's List and one President's List honors, while also being named a Top 25 Student by the Davis College of Business. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and maintains a 3.844 GPA.
On the field, Brock has been a key component to the Dolphins' defense. She garnered a spot on the ASUN Conference All-Tournament team and was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year.
Sturgell was a unanimous selection to the ASUN All-Academic Team. The defender from Deale, Maryland is studying to earn a degree in Sports Business and Marketing with a minor in Communications, and is looking to pursue a career in sports marketing. As a Dolphin, Sturgell has made her way onto the Dean's List twice and the Presidents List three times. After accumulating a 3.951 GPA, Sturgell was named a Top 25 Student by the Davis College of Business for her achievements.
She also serves as a captain for this season and participates in the Jacksonville Honors Program, is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Campus Connections 838.
Rounding out the selections is Cornelius, a defender from Potomac, Maryland. She is a Nursing major and currently holds a 4.0 GPA. Her success in the classroom has put her name on the President's List four times during her three years as a Dolphin.
Her achievements are not limited to the classroom as she also landed a spot on the ASUN All-Conference Second Team list.
