Dolphins Return to Win-Column After Defeating Blue Hose

CLINTON, S.C. - Jacksonville's women's soccer team (3-1) makes its way back into the win-column after defeating the Presbyterian Blue Hose(1-3), 4-1. Four different Dolphins scored to give JU its third victory of the regular season.

The first fifteen minutes of the opening period saw equal amounts of possession, as the ball was launched back-and-forth between both ends of the field. At the 24 minute mark, freshman Selma Fohrer found the back of the net off a corner kick by Lola Negrete, to put the Dolphins on the board first, 1-0. This goal marks Fohrer's third of the year.

Following Fohrer's lead, Olivia Abdallah scored two minutes later to put the Dolphins on top, 2-0. Abdallah's goal would also serve as her third of the year, as she ties Forher for the leading spot in goals scored on the season. Four minutes later at the 17 mark, Presbyterian would respond with a goal after launching the ball past JU goalkeeper Courtney Green, to cut the Dolphins lead to 2-1. The remaining minutes of the first half were scoreless and the Dolphins went into halftime with a tight lead.

Shortly after starting the second half, Negrete converted a penalty kick to score her first goal of her redshirt sophomore campaign and extend the Dolphins lead to 3-1. JU continued to hold momentum as the Dolphins constantly threatened the Blue Hose by keeping the ball on the Presbyterians side of the field. Over twenty minutes later at the 15' minute mark, Adanna Edwards kicked the ball over the Blue Hose goalie to give JU its biggest lead of the contest, 4-1. The goal by Edwards, a transfer from Nova Southeastern, would mark her first as a Dolphin.

During the last few minutes of the game, Presbyterian was not able to put the ball away and JU walked off the field with its third victory of the regular season.

"It was a nice bounce back win for our players because Presbyterian is a good team and it is always tough to win on the road," head coach John Constable said. "Our players have a lot of confidence now and they are enjoying each other which is important."
