JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University volleyball concluded the Dolphin Classic presented by Hampton Inn East Regency on Saturday afternoon at Swisher Gym.
 
The Dolphins (2-7) were unable to get rolling against South Florida, falling in straight sets.
 
SET ONE
 
The match started with a tightly contested set. 
Brianna Jackson got the day started with her first kill, 
Camryn Honn added two of her own and 
Barbora Romancova tacked on one as well, before Jackson recorded her second of the day to give JU a 10-9 lead.
 
After 
Isa Dostal recorded her first kill of the day to move the lead to 12-11, USF strung together four straight points, and scored nine of the next 11 points to take a 21-14 lead. Jackson got her third kill of the set to spark a JU rally, with 
Kyndaal Stansberry recording one and 
Addyson Lewis collecting an ace to get JU within five, 22-17. After that, the Bulls scored three of the final four points to finish off set one, 25-18.
 
Jackson and Stansberry had three kills each in the set, while Honn had nine assists and Lewis tacked on four digs.
 
SET TWO
 
Another competitive start to set two featured a service ace by Honn to get it started, two kills by Jackson, one by Romancova and another by Stansberry in the first combined 10 points, with it tied at 5-5 early. Honn had a kill to tie it again at nine, before USF took a lead it would not relinquish.
 
JU cut it to two, 15-13, when Dostal and 
Autumn DeSantis recorded back-to-back kills. Another late push after Romancova and Jackson had kills and 
Kariana Ayala recorded an ace to cut the score to 24-20, before the Bulls finished it off, 25-21.
 
SET THREE
 
USF took advantage of a few early Jacksonville errors to take a lead at the start of the third set. DeSantis, Honn and Jackson had kills to try and get JU back into it, but the Bulls kept the Dolphins at bay through most of the set, closing it out 25-14.
 
Jackson's eight kills were a team-high, Honn had 21 total assists. Lewis collected nine digs and Romancova had three block assists.
 
JU heads on the road next weekend to compete in the Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington, N.C. next weekend.
