JACKSONVILLE, FLA.- Jacksonville volleyball program defeated in three sets by Jacksonville State.
SET ONE
Both programs battled back and forth early to tie the set 7-7. The Gamecocks went on a 3-0 scoring run, extending the lead to 10-7. Jacksonville State held on to the momentum leading 17-9, forcing the Dolphins to take their second timeout of the set. The Gamecocks closed set one 25-12.
SET TWO
Back-to-back points started the Dolphins off early in set two. Two blocks from Lyric Love puts the Dolphins up by one 5-4. A 5-1 run from the Gamecocks pushed their lead ahead 11-7. Jacksonville State continued with their rhythm to put them in front by five. Two big kills from Love and Haley Hart sparked a little energy for the Dolphins. The Gamecocks remained in the lead and finished set two 25-13.
SET THREE
The two programs traded points early in set three. Haley Hart's kill put the Dolphins within one. The Gamecocks extended their lead 14-10. An 8-1 run for Jacksonville State mid game, The Gamecocks capitalized off the Dolphins mistakes forcing Jacksonville to their last timeout. The Dolphins with a 4-0 run to get within three points of the Gamecocks. But Jacksonville State clinched the third set 25-23.
Haley Hart led tonight's match with 10 kills alongside Jenna McNamara with six kills. Rebecca Rocassin led with 23 assists and Gyrani Rogers collected 11 digs.
The Dolphins are back in action next Friday against Bellarmine at 6:00pm.
