Clarksville, Tenn. – The Jacksonville University women's soccer program (4-3-3, 1-3-1) battled to a 1-1 draw with Austin Peay, Thursday evening in ASUN action.
The Green and White jumped out to a fast start, as
Alisha Mainwaring slipped one past the Governors goalkeeper in the ninth minute, with the assist coming from fellow freshman
Anaya Black. The score was the Burgess Hill, United Kingdom's first of her collegiate career, giving the Dolphins a 1-0 edge.
Just four minutes later, the Dolphins had another great opportunity, as Black's shot on goal would be stopped by the hosts.
Later in the first half,
Eden Skyers would attempt to extend the lead, as her try was saved, as the 'Phins would close the opening half leading by one, 1-0.
Coming out of the break, Austin Peay (3-6-5, 1-3-2) would tie the match at one, as Alec Baumgardt would use her right foot to get the ball past the Dolphin goalkeeper, with the assist courtesy of Annabel Anderson.
The Dolphins lone shot on goal in the second half would come in the final 10 minutes, as freshman
Bella Faherty's attempt was denied.
Neither program would break the tie, as the final horn sounded for the 1-1 draw.
In her first start in net since Sept. 18,
Murphy Sheaff stopped a career best 11 shots for the 'Phins.
The Green and White close the Tennessee road trip on Sunday, battling Lipscomb at 2 PM.
