JACKSONVILLE, FLA.- Jacksonville University program defeated North Florida in a five-set victory Friday evening in Swisher Gymnasium. Â
SET ONEÂ
Jacksonville started early with a 5-0 run. A kill from Jenna McNamara forced North Florida to take a timeout. Julia De Sa with a service ace extended the lead. A huge kill from Haley Hart pushed the Dolphins to a 9-1 lead. North Florida used a 4-0 run to find momentum to come back within two 11-8. Hart's kill put the Dolphins back within two 15-13. The Ospreys tied the set 15-15. An ace by Jenna McNamara led the pack 20-17. North Florida tied the set again at 20-20 forcing Jacksonville to take a timeout. The Ospreys pulled ahead by one 22-21. The Dolphins tied the set again 24-24. Jacksonville took set one 26-24. Â
SET TWOÂ
It was a back-and-forth affair in Swisher Gymnasium . The Ospreys took the lead 9-5. North Florida used a 5-0 run to extend the 11-5. North Florida took advantage of the Dolphins mistakes to put the Ospreys in the lead 17-8. The Dolphins found a little momentum forced North Florida to call a timeout 20-12. Jacksonville battled to come back but North Florida finished set two 25-15. Â
SET THREEÂ
The program traded points early in set three. Jacksonville tied the set early 6-6. North Florida went up by two leading 9-7. Jacksonville tied it back up 11-11. Jenna McNamara's kill put the Dolphins in the lead 12-11. A huge block from Lyric Love and McNamara extended the lead by three 15-12. A kill from Love forced North Florida to take a timeout 19-14. Back-to-Back kills for Julia put the Dolphins up 23-15. The Dolphins took set three 25-15. Â
SET FOURÂ
A 4-0 run for Jacksonville early in set four. The Dolphins held on to a two-point lead 9-7. Julia De Sa's kill extended lead 14-11. Cami Kelsay ace forced North Florida to call a timeout 16-12. A 4-0 run for the Ospreys tied the set 16-16. North Florida took the lead by one 20-19. McNamara tied it back up 23-23. The Ospreys closed out set four 25-23. Â
SET FIVEÂ
Another back-and-forth affair, Jacksonville lead by one 5-4. Jacksonville tied the set up 6-6. North Florida found momentum to take back the lead 8-7. Jacksonville regained the momentum and extended the lead by two points, 10-8. Back-to-back blocks from Hart had the Dolphins in the lead 14-11. Jacksonville clinched the fifth set 15-13. Â
The Dolphins are back in action Sunday at UNF Arena at 5pm. Â
