JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University women's golf placed two in the top 15 at the Sea Best Intercollegiate at San Jose Country Club.
The Dolphins were led by
Macarena Aguilera, who finished tied for 12th and
Casey Powell, who was tied for 14th, as JU came home 10th in the inaugural edition of its home event.
After a steadying finish in the morning to her tough second round, she carded five front nine pars and a birdie, and added two more red numbers in the back nine, to climb a spot on the leaderboard and record her fourth top-15 finish of the season.
Powell shot three birdies and 12 pars in her second round, her strongest of the event, and closed the tournament with 12 pars in her third round to log another strong finish in her freshman campaign.
Laura Pasalodos had nine pars and two birdies in the third roun,
Frantiska Lunackova recorded 10 pars and two birdies in her best round of the week and
Jenna Fonda had seven pars and two birdies.
JU's individuals both rounded things out strong, with
Mawgan Vater climbing nine spots after sinking nine pars and a birdie in her best round of the tournament, and
Harley Hiltibrand made 11 pars to move 10 spots up the leaderboard in the final round.
The Dolphins had the second most team pars in the field, sinking 143. Powell led the team with 33, while Aguilera had a team-best eight birdies.
JU is next in action at the RiverTowne Intercollegiate in Charleston, S.C. on Feb. 28-March 1.
