GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Dolphins (0-6) traveled to Gainesville for a rematch against the Florida Gators (6-0). In a six-inning contest, the Dolphins would drop their second straight to UF, 0-8.
After yesterday's 1-13 loss at home, JU improved on the road. Shelby Harpe began the game sending the first three batters down and following up with another scoreless inning in the second. It was the third inning for UF that allowed them to take their first lead of the night, as two players crossed the plate to go up 0-2.
Although the Dolphins had a few chances with the bases load, and players on base, they couldn't capitalize on the opportunities through the next few innings. They pushed Florida to their limits, but never hit the breaking-point.
The game would remain a back-and-forth defensive affair until the sixth inning, where the Gators would break the doors open and walk off the game with a two-run double. UF scored a total of five runs in the final inning, causing the game to end via mercy rule.
JU will come back home to host another weekend tournament, split between UNF, titled the Osprey/Dolphin Invite. Their first matchup is Friday, February 18th, when they take on Michigan State (3-2) at 5PM.
