PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville University women's golf is sitting in third after day one of Lady Bison Classic at Bay Point presented by Under Armour was cut short due to darkness on Monday.
Most players still have four to five holes to complete in round two, which restarts Tuesday morning with an 8 a.m. shotgun at Bay Point Golf Club.
Macarena Aguilera is the Dolphins leader in the clubhouse, in a tie for sixth overall with two holes to play in round two. After making 10 pars and a birdie in her first rounds, she was very strong in the second, sinking three birdies and recording just one hole over par.
Laura Pasalodos joined Aguilera in the top-10, sitting in a tie for eighth with three holes left in her second round. She made 10 pars and a birdie in her first round, then heated up, carding two birdies and an eagle to go with eight pars in her second.
Frantiska Lunackova is tied for 12th. She was up-and-down some in the first round, but after making four straight pars to end her front nine, she carded two consecutive birdies on 10 and 11 and finished her round with three straights pars. She ended her second round with two straight pars and a birdie and has four holes to play in the morning.
Mawgan Vater is also in the top-20, currently tied for 19th with three holes remaining in her second round. In the first round, she had a five consecutive par stretch on her second through sixth holes, she sank one birdie and wrapped the round with consecutive pars. She added two more birdies and nine pars in the second.
Casey Powell had nine pars and a birdie in the first round, and was one of the second-round's biggest climbers on the leaderboard, gaining 15 spots through her 13-holes played. She started the round with five straight pars, and after giving a few strokes back, scored a birdie and an eagle on successive holes on her back nine.
Harley Hiltibrand led the team with three first-round birdies, and added another red number to go with five pars in her second. She has four holes remaining.
JU was the second-best Par-4 and Par-5 scoring team on the day, with Powell (-3), Aguilera (-3), Hiltibrand (-1) and Vater (-1) all scoring under-par on the longest of holes.
Aguilera's 22 pars led the team, while Hilibrand and Aguilera both had four birdies and Pasalodos and Powell carding two of the day's eight eagles.
After the conclusion of the second round action, the players will roll straight into final round play.
