Softball Falls to #3 Florida State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Dolphins (11-15, 5-1) dropped their mid-week matchup with #3 Florida State (32-2) tonight, 6-3.

The Seminoles jumped out to an early lead as they scored one in the first and another four in the second to build a five-run lead after just two innings. The Dolphins' biggest struggle throughout the game was their defense as they committed four errors.

On the offensive side, the Dolphins didn't strike until the fourth as Allison Bratek put the first run on the board for JU with a solo home run to left field on Danielle Watson's first pitch. Both sides would remain stagnant until the Dolphins came to bat for the final time of the night.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Dolphins would not go down without a fight. Joely Leguizamon led off the inning with a bunt single perfectly placed down the first baseline. Following her was Allison Bratek with a walk, which was followed up with a Kailey Harrigan single to right to drive in Leguizamon. Another run would cross the plate for JU in that bottom inning, but they could not finish the comeback as they would drop the contest by just three runs.

JU continues their week as they travel to Florence, Alabama to take on North Alabama (22-10, 1-5) for a weekend series on Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 3rd.
