LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Dolphins (14-25) dropped both games of a doubleheader to Liberty (34-13) today.
Neither game displayed much offense for JU as they were shutout in both games. In game one, Skylar Whitty held Liberty scoreless through three innings until giving up a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. From the fourth inning to the sixth, Liberty would scrape across one run an inning to give them a 3-0 lead that JU couldn't catch up to. Leaving five runners on base, the Dolphins failed to capitalize and give run support to another strong outing for Whitty.
Game two began in similar fashion, except with Shelby Harpe on the mound. She would hold Liberty scoreless after two innings, however JU still could not score. After leaving the bases loaded in the first, the Dolphins would have just one more hit the rest of the way, leaving another three on base, and finalizing a series win for Liberty in five innings, 8-0.
JU has an opportunity to up the offense tomorrow, April 24th, at 12PM for game three of their series against Liberty.
