Five Dolphins Named to ASUN Women’s Lacrosse All-Academic Team

JACKSONVILLE, FLA – Five different members of Jacksonville Women's Lacrosse were named to the ASUN Conference Women's All-Academic team the conference announced on Wednesday morning, with Molly Brock, Hailey Blachly, Hannah Carolan, Beth Cornelius, and Jenny Kinsey all cracking this year's roster.

Molly Brock makes the All-Academic team for the second time in her career following her first selection last season. Graduating this past week with a 3.865 GPA and Business Analytics degree, Brock was also named to the 2020-21 Davis College of Business & Technology's Top 25 Student list.

On the field Molly has been a mainstay in the Dolphin midfield for the last three seasons, and this year she has racked up an impressive 91 draw controls while also adding 22 goals and four assists to the Dolphins' high-powered offense. Molly also broke the Jacksonville program record this season for draw controls and currently sits at 272 all time.

Hailey Blachly makes this year's All-Academic team for the first time in her three-year career with the Dolphins. The Junior International Business major from Maryland was outstanding both in the classroom and on the field this season all while maintaining a GPA of 3.987. Hailey was named to this year's Davis College of Business & Technology's Top 25 Student list and on the field was an anchor of the Dolphin defense.

In 15 games played this year Hailey has caused 15 turnovers which is good for second overall on the 'Phins and she also sits third on the team in ground balls with 16. Hailey's most notable game of the season came on April 1, when she caused three turnovers and scooped up four ground balls in the Dolphin win over Coastal Carolina.

Next, Hannah Carolan received her first ever selection to the All-Academic team following her graduation as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps from JU's NROTC program. While training to hopefully become a pilot in the Marine Corps, Hannah has also been a four-year member of JU's honor program and recently graduated with a 3.87 GPA.

On the field Hannah has appeared in nine games this season, recording seven points (5G-2A) and two ground balls. Hannah's most notable performance of the season came on April 18, when she scored two goals and added an assist against Delaware State.

Like her teammate in Brock, Beth Cornelius also makes the All-Academic team for the second time in her career with this selection and rightfully so. The Senior Nursing major recently graduated with a 4.0 and was named the Keigwin School of Nursing's Richard H. Malone Award for Excellence winner for her efforts in the classroom. Voted on by her peers and professors, the Malone award is given out annually to a graduating senior who exemplifies the "best of the best" all while performing extremely well in the clinical and classroom components of JU's esteemed nursing program.

On the field, Beth started in all 15 games this season at defense and has caused six turnovers while also scooping up 18 ground balls which is the second highest GB total on the team. Beth also notched a couple of goals this year scoring against Niagara and Delaware State.

Lastly, Jenny Kinsey cracked her third All-Academic roster all time and does so following her recent graduation as the Jacksonville University Graduate Student of the Year with a 4.0 GPA.

Jenny's performance on the field is on par with her spectacular academics as she currently sits second to Sarah Elms in both goals and points with 43 and 62 respectively. She also sits tied for second with Elms for assists this season with 19. You could pick out a lot of games but Jenny's most notable performance this season came on March 5, when she scored seven total goals against East Carolina.

With the academic year wrapped up for the 'Phins they now turn their attention to the field where they embark on their journey for yet another ASUN Championship. Their quest gets underway this upcoming Thursday, May 5, when they battle Coastal Carolina in the semi final round at 1 pm in Jacksonville.
