Dolphins Show Growth in NCAA APR Report

Jacksonville, Fla. – Jacksonville Men's Golf and Women's cross country programs received perfect APR scores, in the recent report released by the NCAA.

In total, all 14 JU programs that meet the NCAA requirements for APR,  scored 970 or better out of a possible 1,000 points. The recent NCAA APR report is based on NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) data submitted by the institution for the 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

"We are very proud of the collective effort of our teams for their performance and dedication to Jacksonville University athletics, reflected in the latest APR rankings," said Senior Associate AD of Internal Affairs Justin Wilkins. "The strong work by our student-athlete services and compliance teams and our coaching staffs is continually displayed in moments like these."

The APR returned this year, after not being released in 2021 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NCAA's APR is designed to track the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship at a particular institution. It accounts for eligibility, retention, and graduation each term to provide a clear measure of each team's academic performance.

"Our ascension in the APR realm has us beaming with pride," Associate AD of Student-Athlete Services Andy Heston said. "I am incredibly proud of the continual growth, as it shows off all the high functioning parts of JU Athletics, from students, to coaches, to staff.  Our students keep raising the bar in the classroom and are staying to graduate at JU, sometimes with more than one degree.  Having a multi-faceted strategy for APR is great, but it all starts with getting invested, first-class people to represent the department.  Fortunately, in recent time, we've been able to do just that."

Seven Dolphin programs received a 990 or higher score for the 2020-21 school year, including men's golf, men's soccer, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's lacrosse, women's rowing, women's soccer and women's track.

The JU men's basketball, men's golf, men's lacrosse, men's soccer, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's lacrosse, women's rowing and women's soccer programs recorded their highest APR score in 2020-21. The men's golf perfect score was the fourth-straight APR release with a perfect 1,000 rating.
