JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Jacksonville volleyball sweeps Stetson Friday night in ASUN opener. First win to open ASUN play since 2019. Â
SET ONEÂ
JU got things started by battling Stetson back and forth early. Julia De Sa picked up a kill to tie the set at ten and the Dolphins went on after that. Jacksonville kept the momentum the entire set 20-16. A big kill from Haley Hart forces Stetson to call a timeout 22-17. The Hatters fought their way back forcing the Dolphins to take a timeout 24-23. Jenna McNamara helped the Dolphins finish set one 25-23. Â
SET TWOÂ
Stetson started off set two with the momentum 6-4. The Hatters forced Jacksonville to take a timeout 4-8. The Dolphins battle their way back to get within one of the Hatters. McNamara ties the set at eight with a service ace. Stetson utilizes the Dolphins errors to take the lead by two 16-14. Back-to-back service aces for Rebecca Rocassin ties the set 17-17. With Stetson gaining momentum, the Hatters forces Jacksonville to a timeout 17-19. A powerful kill from Haley Hart puts the Dolphins behind one. Jacksonville tied the game 23-23, making Stetson take their last timeout. Hart's kill closed out set two 25-13. Â
SET THREEÂ
Jacksonville started set three strong with a 5-2 lead. Extending the lead to 8-3 was Gyrani Rogers with a service ace. The energy from the Dolphins was electric. De Sa solo block allows the Hatters to take a timeout 11-5. De Sa collecting another kill to keep the Dolphins ahead 16-11. Jacksonville kept the momentum closing out set three 25-20. Â
Jenna McNamara led the Dolphins with 12 kills, Haley Hart adding 11 kills of her own. Rocassin had 36 assists through three sets, with Kariana Ayala-Drew digging 18 to lead the team. Â
JU returns to Swisher Saturday to take on FGCU at 5pm. Â
