JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Jacksonville University volleyball captured two victories on day one of Dolphin Classic.
SET ONE
Jacksonville led early in set one, utilizing kills from Jenna McNamara and Julia De Sa to keep the advantage. Lyric Love helps the Dolphins extend the lead 11-8. The Texans fought back to tie up the set 15-15. A kill from McNamara and a service Ace from Rebecca Rocassin puts the Dolphins ahead by two. Tarleton found its way to tie the set 22-22. Three consecutive kills from Haley Hart to end set one 25-23.
SET TWO
Another back-and-forth affair the Texans gained control taking the lead 6-3. Hart and Love responds immediately both with a kill. The Dolphins fought back to tie the set 10-10. The Texans regain control, leading by three. Jacksonville giving it their all, trails by two. Julia De Sa with two consecutive kills ties the set 25-25. Hart closes out the set with a kill and a service ace. The Dolphins take set two 28-26.
SET THREE
Another good start for the Dolphins featured a kill by De Sa and Hart. Tied at 15-15, an error from Tarleton State puts the Dolphins up by one. Lyric Love dominates the net extending the lead 21-19. Julia De Sa slams one down keeping the Dolphins in front 23-21. Kariana Ayala- Drew brought the team to a victory with a service ace. Jacksonville clinched the set 25-22.
Haley Hart and Julia both led with 14 kills. Rebecca Rocassin with three service aces and 42 assists. Kariana Ayala Drew collected 21 digs.
Idaho
SET ONE
Jacksonville starts off with a 3-0 scoring run against the Vandals. Two consecutive kills from Jenna McNamara led the Dolphins to an 8-2 lead. Adding two more kills to the column for Julia De Sa expanding the Dolphins lead 22-8. Welcoming Cami Kelsay back to court after a long year of recovery. Lizzie Kitchen made her first collegiate debut as Dolphin. Jacksonville took set one 25-10.
Set TWO
The Dolphins jumped out to a 5-1 edge over the Vandals. Two major blocks from the Dolphins allow them to expand the lead 11- 4. A kill from Lyric Love pushes the lead more to 13-4. Brianna Jackson also helps the Dolphins with a big kill 20-8. Ending the set with a block from Haley Hart and Jenna McNamara. Dolphins take control 25-13.
SET THREE
Back-to-back kills for Haley Hart pushing the lead by one. Myah Robinson and Love with a monster block shifting the momentum. Two service aces from Kariana Ayala- Drew 16-13. The Dolphins kept the momentum to close out the set 25-21.
Jenna led the pack with 13 kills. Kristina Nika with three service aces. Haley Hart with four blocks. Rebecca leading both teams with 33 assists. Kariana Ayala- Drew collected 12 digs.
Jacksonville is back in action tomorrow in Swisher against Florida Atlantic at 2pm.
