Dolphins Fall to FGCU

FORT MYERS- Jacksonville University women's basketball program traveled to Fort Myers to take on ASUN Champions FGCU. The Dolphins battled but the Eagles stayed ontop winning 77-51. 

Jalisa Dunlap starts the scoring off for Jacksonville with a layup a minute into the game. The two teams traded points back and forth in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Dolphins still trade points with the Eagles. Two baskets from Shynia Jackson put the Dolphins within five points. The Eagles went on a run in the last two minutes of the quarter, leading into halftime 36-29.  

In the third quarter the Eagles started off hot with a 6-0 scoring run. FGCU continued to keep the momentum going shooting 50 percent from the three and 70 percent from the field. In the final quarter the Eagles continued to take advantage of the lead. The Dolphins went scoreless in the last minutes of the game until a layup from Delayna Gillard. The Eagles finished the game shooting 46 percent from the field whereas the Dolphins shot 25 perecnt.

The Dolphins take on the Liberty Flames inside Liberty Arena at 2pm on Sunday.
