LAKELAND, Fla.- The Jacksonville women's cross country team had three runners compete in the SSC Preview Meet, hosted by Florida Southern College, to wrap up their 2023 regular season.
The event featured 120 runners, and Jacksonville had two runners who finished in the top half. Emma DeRosa led the way for the Dolphins, completing the race in 28 minutes and 7.46 seconds, with an average pace of 7 minutes and 33 seconds per mile.
Emily Haney followed suit, finishing just over 14 seconds behind DeRosa with a time of 28 minutes and 21.68 seconds and an average pace of 7 minutes and 37 seconds per mile.
Isabella Albright rounded out the day for the Dolphins, finishing the race in 31 minutes and 31.78 seconds.
"The women's race was first which made for a hot race," said head coach Jordan Garmon. "I think that really took the wind out of our sails. Nobody wants to end their season on a bad note. However, tough races make for the best learning experiences. We look forward to growing and moving forward."
