CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Jacksonville women's soccer team fell 1-0 in another tight matchup, this time against Queens Charlotte.
The Queens netminder, Erica Turner, who entered today's match second in the ASUN in saves, delivered a strong performance to lead her team to victory. The Dolphins recorded six shots on goal compared to Queens' three, but Turner managed to save every JU effort, securing her seventh shutout of the season. In the 34th minute, a ball bouncing around the Dolphins' penalty area found its way to a Royals attacker, sneaking into the bottom corner and providing the game's first and only goal of the afternoon.
Jacksonville spread the ball around the pitch for most of the afternoon, with their attacks primarily generated through the middle, where
Mariama Dabo directed the ball to the wingers.
Beyonce Robinson found success on the left wing in the first half, displaying some nifty footwork to create a few chances for herself, including one just outside the six-yard box. However, Turner managed to parry it and keep JU off the board. Redshirt junior
Haley Woodaz had a pair of shots on goal, while freshman
Nya Bridgewater had another chance in the first half with a shot that was stopped but seemed destined for the bottom left corner.
Logan Gonzales made her seventh consecutive start in goal and recorded two saves, bringing her season total to 29.
