JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University baseball wrapped up its fall campaign with its annual Green and Gold Fall World Series.

The Green team won games two and three to prevail in the intrasquad contest, spanning from Thursday through Saturday at John Sessions Stadium.

GAME 1

Pitching dominated game one, with Gold scratching across a run in the third and two more in the fourth to take the opener in the series 3-0 on Thursday night. Chris Lotito earned the win for Gold, throwing four scoreless innings and fanning six. Scout Updike picked up where he left off, striking out four over three scoreless innings of his own to preserve the shutout. Justin Nadeau drove in one with a double as part of a 2-4 night with a run scored.

For Green, Blake Barquin took the tough luck loss, allowing only one run over five innings and striking out six total on the night. Offensively, Cade Hentz went 2-3 with the lone two hits of the game for Green, while Gold totaled nine in all.

GAME 2

Green used a monster fifth inning to defeat Gold 4-1 and even the series at a game a piece on Friday afternoon. Richard Long set the tone on the mound for Green and his offense picked him up from there.

Long was nearly flawless, as he nearly went the distance on the day to give Green the juice it needed to get back into the series. He scattered four hits over his six innings of work, and struck out one, while not allowing any free baserunners or runs.

Several guys stepped up on offense to support him, led by Josh Steidl, who went 2-3 with a double an RBI in that decisive, four-run fifth inning. Cade Hentz helped by driving in a run and scoring one as well and Blake DeLamielleure had a big two-run double.

For Gold, Justin Nadeau tried to spark a rally in the seventh with an RBI triple once Long left the game, but that was all Gold could muster offensively. A pair of Gold pitchers were strong, with Isaac Williams striking out three over a scoreless 1.1 innings and Tommy Allman keeping Green off the board for 4.2 innings, allowing only four hits and striking out two.

GAME 3

Green got off to a strong start in the decisive game three on Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 4-2 victory on Saturday afternoon. They plated two runs in the first and tacked on another in the second to carry a 3-0 lead into the latter part of the game. Gold tried to rally, scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Green answered right back to get the run back in the top of the sixth to make it 4-1. Gold managed just one more run in the home half of the inning, but that was all she wrote for Gold's chances.

Green finished the day with nine hits to Gold's three, while Gold committed three errors. Peyton Prescott picked up the win with a dominant outing on the mound. The freshman did not allow a run over 4.1 innings, striking out four and scattering a hit and three walks. Jack Carver brought it home to earn the save. Cade Hentz led the way offensively for Green, going 2-4, driving in a run and stealing three bases. Blake DeLamielleure drove in a run with an RBI double and also swiped a bag as well. Prescott showcased his two-way skills, also collecting two hits, including a double, and drawing a walk. For Gold, Justin Nadeau knocked in a run in a 1-2 outing, also drawing two walks.

Richard Long was named MVP of the series for his dominant pitching performance for Green on Friday.
