CLARKSVILLE, TENN- Jacksonville University Women's Basketball program played Austin Peay in the Winfield Dunn Center Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins clinched the win 55-52.
After two minutes of play a basket from Senior Shynia Jackson started the scoring for Jacksonville. Jackson dominated in the first quarter with back-to-back jumpers extending the Dolphins lead by two. Jacksonville went cold offensively early in the second quarter. Two jumpers from MaKayla Edwards sparked some energy from the Dolphins trailing by four. The Dolphins went on a 6-0 run late with three minutes before going into halftime. With seconds on the clock Edwards shot a three-pointer leading Jacksonville 23-22 going into halftime.
In the third quarter Jacksonville came out with the same energy in the first half. A layup from Jalisa Dunlap put the Dolphins up by two. Both programs traded points late in the quarter. Edwards continued to be aggressive getting herself to the charity strip syncing two free throws to keep Jacksonville in the game. A deep three pointer from Dunlap tied the game 37-37 ending the third quarter. In the final quarter both teams continued to trade points. A driving layup from Seraphine Bastin tied the game 41-41. A driving layup from Delanya Gillard and an off the corner shot from Jackson puts the Dolphins up by one. With a minute and 8 seconds on the clock the Dolphins held on to the one-point lead. Jackson at the line with 32 seconds left syncs both free throws. Another pair of free throws from Bastin put Jacksonville up by three. The dolphins held the ball running down the clock.

The Dolphins return home to Swisher Gymnasium to take on Kennesaw State for the pink out game at 7pm.
