Box Score JACKSONVILLE, FLA- Jacksonville University Women's basketball program took on Jacksonville State for senior day in Swisher. The Dolphins won 59-53.
Jacksonville State went on a 5-0 run early. The Dolphins responded with a layup from Shynia Jackson and a three pointer Julene Royale. The program traded points throughout the quarter. The Dolphins tied the game 13-13 to end the first quarter. In the second quarter a floater from Royale and Zaria Blake to extend the lead by one. Jacksonville state outscored Jacksonville 13 to 8 leading going into halftime 26 to 21.
In the third quarter Jackson started scoring for Jacksonville. A three pointer from Jackson put the Dolphins within range of four. A three pointer from MaKayla Edwards cut the deficit to three but JSU went on a run. A jumper from Jackson and Bastin got the scoring going for the Dolphins after being in a drought. Two free throws from Blake cut the lead down to one. In the final quarter Jackson shot a jump shot to put the Dolphins up by one. The teams battled in the fourth quarter. With two minutes left free throws from Bastin and Jackson made the score 50-50. JSU ran the clock down to end the regulation. In overtime Jalisa Dunlap shot a huge three pointer to extend the lead by three. With 18 seconds on the clock a pair of free throws from Jackson sealed the game.
