CHARLESTON, S.C. – Susana Olivares shot a final round 72 to capture co-medalist honors at the Rivertowne Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Her 72-hole total of 213 is tied for the fourth-best tournament score in Jacksonville University women's golf program history. The team finished T12 of 19 teams.
Olivares parred her first seven holes of the day, before rattling off consecutive birdies. She followed that up with seven pars in her final nine holes, leaving home with her first piece of hardware as a Division I player. She led the team in total pars and birdies for the week, with 37 and 10, respectively.
She is the first Dolphin to win a tournament since
Casey Powell finished first at the Sea Best Jacksonville Classic on September 28, 2021 and is the 19th tournament winner in program history.
Powell made 15 pars in her final round, including sinking eight in a row at one point, and came home with a top-30 finish. She had the second-most total pars on the day.
Ivete Rodrigues made six straight pars to start her day, and finished with eight total, also sinking a birdie on her 14th hole of the day.
Jenna Fonda finished the tournament with 10 pars in her final round and
Laura Pasalodos had six.
Jacksonville returns to the state of South Carolina to play in the Low Country Invitational starting on Friday, March 17.
