JACKSONVILLE, FLA- Jacksonville University Softball defeated Lipscomb in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Debbie and Fred Pruitt Softball Complex.
The Dolphins (16-14) won both contests with scores of 4-3 and 9-3 in seven innings.
Game 1
Tatianna Davis started the Dolphins rally with a single. After Madison Reynolds walked, Davis advanced to second base. Kari Holzrichter doubled to left field, allowing Reynolds and Davis to score. In the fourth inning, Joely Leguizamon doubled to right field then advanced to third when Davis grounded out. Madison Bratek reached on an error by the pitcher allowing Leguizamon to score for the Dolphins. Madison Reynolds reached on a fielder's choice and Bratek advanced to third. Madison Bratek would come in to score on a sacrifice fly from Holzrichter to give the Dolphins a 4-0 lead.
The Dolphins gave up three runs late in the sixth inning but would shut down the Bisons in the seventh inning to hold on for the 4-3 victory.
Game 2
Early in the second inning, the Bisons scored a homerun and in the bottom of the third inning, Leguizamon doubled to left field. Davis reached the base on an error by the third baseman allowing Leguizamon to return home for the Dolphins. M. Bratek tripled to left field and Davis scored. Reynolds singled to the third baseman and M. Bratek scored another.
The Dolphins kept their foot on the gas scoring five more runs. Jacksonville gave up two runs in the fourth inning but collected another run in the fifth inning.
