JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville men's rowing team is ready for their biggest race weekend of the season at the FIRA Championships in Sarasota, Florida.

Last weekend, the men's rowing team raced six boats at the DeLand Double Duels. The team as a whole competed well across the day, often racing two boats in one event, and brought home second in a plethora of races. 

"I'm excited to head back to the FIRA Championships this year," said head coach Preston Weinard ahead of the weekend. "The last time was in 2019, and a lot has changed for all of us since then. As one of our only chances to double-up in racing, we will be entering as many events as possible to take more racing opportunities. It'll be great to see a lot of JU boats coming down the course in Sarasota!

"Rowing in Florida has grown so much in the last several years, and it excites me to be a part of it. We will face great competitors in each event we are entered – it'll make for some great racing this weekend."

The regatta is set to start at 8:20 Saturday morning, with Jacksonville in the opening race of the Varsity 8+. To follow along, click here
