JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville men's rowing team is travelling to the Volunteer State for one of the bigger races of their season at the SIRA Regatta.
 
Last time on the water, the Dolphins sent their first, second and third Varsity 8+'s to the Occuquan Collegiate Invitational in Fairfax Station Virginia. The first Varsity 8+ won the B final at the event and improved their race time by eight seconds between their first and second time on the water. Both the Second and Third Varsity 8+'s took third in their respected B Final. Head Coach Preston Weinard thought the Second and Third Varsity Eight's were going to push themselves harder this week because of the outcome, and the team is eager to get back on the water.
 
"After a quick turnaround from the Occoquan Invitational, all three of JU's boats made some improvements and are fired to race again," said head coach Preston Weinard when asked about his pre-race thoughts ahead of the weekend. "The team has been motivated to perform at SIRA for monthsm and I believe we are poised to have a good weekend. The focus all year has been to bring energy, make changes and improve from one day to the next, and that will not be different this weekend. Looking forward to some good racing this weekend on a fantastic racecourse with great competition!"
 
The weekend of racing starts with the 2v8 and 3v8 launching at 9:10 for their Time Trials. The event starts at 9:55 AM Saturday morning, with each boat racing in a Time Trial to qualify for their respected Semi-Final, and eventually, their final on Sunday morning.
