Two Dolphins in Top-25 After Day One of Chattanooga Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Jacksonville University women's golf has two members in the top-25 of the leaderboard after day one of the Chattanooga Classic on Sunday.
 
Ivete Rodrigues and Susana Olivares are both T24 with the team T14 after 18 holes at Council Fire Golf Club.
 
Rodrigues started her day with a par, sinking three-straight two separate times in her first nine holes, and after the turn, she upped that number to six in a row. She made three more pars and a birdie on the Par-4 8th to conclude her round with 13 total pars and one red number. She led the team in Par-3 scoring and was tied with Olivares in Par-4 scoring. Her 13 pars on the day were also tied for sixth-most in the field.
 
Olivares bounced back from an early bogey to made three straight pars, then sank two pars and a birdie on three of her final four holes of her first nine. After going par-bogey to start her back half of the round, she made five pars and a birdie in her final seven holes of the day. She led the team in Par-5 scoring. Her two birdies paced the team on day one.
 
Casey Powell made an early birdie, shooting red on the Par-5 11th, and concluded the first nine with three pars as well. Her last nine was steadier, with her sinking five straight pars at one point, and making par on seven of her last nine.
 
Jenna Fonda had seven pars and a birdie and Ashley Huffman made eight pars in her opening round.
 
Second round action starts on Monday morning, with Huffman going off hole 10 first at 9 a.m.
