Jax Softball Earns Series Sweep Against Queens

CHARLOTTE, NCMadison Reynolds and Kari Holzrichter slammed home runs in game one and Allsion Bratek hit the game winning home run in game two as the Dolphins (23-22, 9-9) swept the series from Queens (18-22, 8-10) 7-4, 2-1.  

Game 1 

JU got the scoring underway in the top of the third inning, Joely Leguizamon singled through the left side. Leguizamon advanced to second on a wild pitch and Tatianna Davis singled to left field allowing Leguizamon to score.  

Later, in the fifth inning, The Dolphins exploded for six runs as Davis singled to right field, Victoria Rodebaugh walked allowing Davis to advance to second base. Allison Carter singled to center field allowing Davis to score.  

Reynolds homered to left field sending everyone home for the Dolphins. Following Reynolds' home run, junior infielder Holzrichter slammed one for Jacksonville making it her first home run of the season.  

Game 2 

Bratek's game winner came on a drive to left field in the top of the sixth inning. 

In the top of the first inning, Davis walked advanced to second base while Allison Bratek walked. Bratek advanced to second and Davis advanced to third on a wild pitch. Reynolds singled up the middle allowing Davis to score.  

Pitcher Shelby Harpe tossed a three-hit complete game to even her record 5-5.  

Jacksonville currently is seventh place in the ASUN standings with the league tournament looming in early May. The top 8 finishers make their way to the ASUN tournament. Queens, North Florida, Stetson, and Kennesaw State are battling for the eighth spot only a game behind the Dolphins.

ON DECK 

Jacksonville returns to Debbie and Fred Pruitt to take on the Stetson Hatters for a final home three-game series this week. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 4 pm and 6:30 pm.
