DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville University spirit squads participated in College Camps, presented by the National Cheerleaders Association and the National Dance Alliance July 29-31.
The Cheer team earned a Silver paid bid to NCA Nationals and the Sirens dance team earned a Bronze paid bid to NDA Nationals after their performances at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort this week.
"This year's athletes are incredibly hungry and want to make a real statement this season," said head coach
Christin Norris. "I'm here for all of it and am excited to see this program grow!"
Cheer exhibited major growth for the program, receiving third place honors in the Rally Routine competition in the All-Girl Advanced Division and were voted the Most Improved Team at camp by the NCA instructors out of the 17 teams in attendance.
The Sirens worked hard in intensive pom, jazz and hip-hop routines throughout the week. The team received first place honors in the Division I Game Day Run-off competition. JU dance department sophomore Ella Wehner was named an All-American and was the Top Gun winner for her outstanding solo-turn combination.
Both teams earned Spirit Sticks and Superior ratings on each of their camp routines and displayed great promise and true potential for the 2023-24 season.
