MIAMI, Fla.- The Jacksonville women's soccer team fell to the Florida International Panthers 4-0 on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dolphins travelled south on Thursday night to take on in-state foe Florida International. Battling high winds and impeding rain, it took both sides a few minutes to create any sort of dangerous play. However, at the 18th minute mark, FIU were granted and converted a penalty to take an early lead. Shortly after, the Miami weather had caught up with the game, and the match was delayed over an hour due to lightning.
Shortly after the break, the Panthers were granted a second penalty, in which they converted to double their lead before the half.
FIU, who entered the game having scored the fourth most goals scored in the country, started the second half with two goals in the first eight minutes. Jacksonville's defense then fully settled into the match and prevented any further damage from one of the country's hottest offensive teams. The JU offense continued to gain possession and generate more offense as the game wore on, however was not able to breakthrough the Panther's defensive line.
Aubrey Dejong started in net again for the Dolphins and recorded six saves to up her season total to 19Â through three games.Â
WHAT THEY SAID
"It was a tough game tonight," said head coach
John Constable. "Credit to FIU as they deserved their win. We definitely made it hard for ourselves out there but FIU deserved their win. We will watch the game back tomorrow then look forward."
