Men's Soccer Earns Draw Vs North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville men's soccer finish with their second point versus North Florida Saturday night in Southern Oak Stadium

HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ

It was a packed night at Southern Oak Stadium as the Jacksonville Dolphins and North Florida Ospreys battled it out in front of hundreds of roaring fans. Neither team held back, and the match ended with a point for the Dolphins, their second of the year in conference play. The Dolphins' forward, Mason Duval, electrified the field with a brilliantĀ header in the middle of the UNF 18-yard box. The Ospreys were looking to defend their trophy, having taken home The River City Rumble crown in the previous matchup with a 1-0 victory. Tonight, UNF barely slipped away.Ā

The match had high energy all night, and the Ospreys were the first to score, finding the net late in the second half, in the 72nd minute, when UNF forward Luc Granitur landed a low right goal. Not long after, JU responded, and the Dolphins took control of the second half. After Duval's goal, only five minutes remained in the match. Even though JU had clearly dominated the night in terms of possessions, time elapsed before the Dolphins could secure another goal to take home the win.Ā

There were many shots taken by both sides throughout the match, with JU totaling 17 and UNF totaling 10. This required keeper Christian Sekanina to deliver another stellar performance, finishing the night with five saves, including a critical one that kept the match even in the 87th minute. JU dominated the field throughout the evening, constantly pressuring UNF's 18-yard box and not letting a single opportunity go unaddressed. Ā Conviencing shots on goal were made by Dolphins Carson Wood, Taurayi Tugwete, Tobias Holton, and Jeppe Jordoson.Ā
