RICHMOND, KY --The Jacksonville Volleyball team could not overcome a dynamic Colonels offense Friday on the road losing to Eastern Kentucky in three sets (14-25, 24-26, 23-25).
Bre McDonough finished with 17 kills on the day to lead the Dolphins offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .448. Defensively, the 'Phins had two players reach double figures in digs as Kristina Nika had 14 and Ana Tobar had 12.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Dolphins found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-14. JU trailed by as many as 11 points as Eastern Kentucky grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was notted up just once before the Colonels took control.
SET 2 | Jacksonville then lost set two 26-24 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Dolphins fell in a back-and-forth affair, losing in a set that featured four lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.
SET 3 | Jacksonville couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Dolphins dropped the set 25-23 despite a strong performance on the attacking side. Jacksonville put together a .371 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set loss.
