Dolphins Notch Sixth Sweep of the Season with Road Win Over Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, KY --The Jacksonville Volleyball team racked up 11 blocks on the way to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-17, 25-21) against Bellarmine on the road.

The win improved the Dolphins' record to 11-11 overall and 6-4 in ASUN play.

Bre McDonough finished with 15 kills on the day to lead the Dolphins offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .333. Defensively, the 'Phins had two players reach double figures in digs as Kristina Nika had 12 and Ana Tobar had 11. From the front row, Amina Dervisevic contributed six blocks and Alija Heins added five rejections.

How It Happened

SET 1 | Impressive serving helped the Dolphins take the first set 25-17. Jacksonville notched six aces in the set victory. The Dolphins ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the set.

SET 2 | Jacksonville won the second set 25-17 to promptly take a 2-0 lead. The Dolphins took the set propelled by a strong performance on the attacking side. JU put together a .375 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set win. The Dolphins ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the set. Jacksonville's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six Bellarmine attacks in the set.

SET 3 | JU took the third set to sweep the match 3-0. The Dolphins survived a back-and-forth set to win 25-21 in a set that featured two lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way. The Dolphin front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Bellarmine attacks in the set.
