Jacksonville Falls At UNF, But Clinches Playoff Berth

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In the final regular season game for Jacksonville Univeristy women's soccer, the Dolphins fell 3-1 on the road at North Florida. Despite the outcome, JU is still playoff bound.

In coach Ryan Moon's first season at the helm, he has the Dolphins in the ASUN playoff bracket as the eighth seed. The 'Phins will play at UNF on Thursday, Oct. 31 against No. 5 Eastern Kentucky at 7 p.m.

Jacksonville dropped to 4-10-3 overall and 3-6-2 in ASUN action with the defeat but will have at least one more game to play.

How it Happened

North Florida scored in the 40th minute to take a 1-0 halftime lead. In the 53rd minute, the Ospreys extended the lead to 2-0.

Jacksonville got its lone goal courtesy of a shot from Olivia Peal that ricocheted off the UNF keeper and back to Peal who found nylon.

The Ospreys made it a 3-1 game in the 74th minute.

Peal led the team with two shots and one shot on goal. Manuela Restrepo added the team's only other shot on goal. Madelyn Radtke and Millie Urquhart each added shots as Jacksonville finished with four total.

In net, Pia Bozic made four total saves.

Coach's Comments
"It was bittersweet. Obviously it was a big game, a big rivalry we wanted to get three points in," Moon said. "It is a bittersweet feeling where we are disappointed but the body of work from the season has put us through to the next round where it is a clean slate. Everything is fresh. It is a new season now for us. We are going to recover as quickly as we can and look to Thursday as energetic as we can."

Game Notes

  • Peal scored her second goal of the season, her first since scoring once against Troy.
