JACKSONVILLE, FL — The Jacksonville volleyball team fought back after dropping the first set to secure a 3-1 win (20-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-23) over North Florida on Wednesday at Swisher Gymnasium.
The conference win improved Jacksonville's record to 12-11 overall and 7-4 in ASUN action. With this win, the Dolphins secured their first regular-season sweep of the River City Rumble since 2017.
The Dolphins were led by a double-double from Cami Kelsay, who registered 12 kills and 14 digs on the day. Bre McDonough also added 15 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Kristina Nika chipped in for with 15 digs to go with six blocks from McDonough.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Dolphins fell behind early, losing the first set 25-20. Jacksonville trailed by as many as eight points as North Florida grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was tied up just once before the Ospreys took control.
SET 2 | The 'Phins responded to pick up a 25-17 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. Jacksonville took the set with the help of a solid performance on the attacking side, as JU registered a .333 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set win. The Dolphins ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the set.
SET 3 | JU won again in the third set to make it a 2-1 match. The Dolphins took control of the set early when the score was 2-1 and never looked back to win 25-10. Jacksonville led by 17 points at 23-6 before closing out the set, totaling 16 kills in the set.
SET 4 | Jacksonville claimed a match win with a 25-23 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Dolphins took the lead for good at 20-19 in a set that showcased four lead changes before JU took over in the second half of the set. Jacksonville also supplemented their offense with four aces in the set.
