DELAND, FL --The Jacksonville Volleyball team knocked off the Stetson Hatters in four sets (25-20, 25-15, 20-25, 25-17) Thursday on the road at the Edmunds Center.
The conference victory improved Jacksonville's record to 15-12 overall and 10-5 in ASUN action.
The Dolphins offense was paced by Breanna McDonough, who finished with 15 kills on the day. Claire Mrukowski added 12 and Haley Yount chipped in with 10 as part of balanced Jacksonville attack. Kristina Nika also pitched in with five in the contest. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Nika had 20 and Emily Hodsdon had 15.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Dolphins grabbed the first set 25-20 helped by a solid performance on the attacking end. Jacksonville registered a .406 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set victory. The 'Phins ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, JUÂ put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-15 victory in set number two. The Dolphins never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that showcased three lead changes before Jacksonville took over the lead.
SET 3 | The 'Phins bid for a 3-0 win end when Stetson took the third set. The Dolphins came up short by the score of 25-20. Stetson grabbed the advantage for good at 21-20 in a set that was tied up nine times before the Hatters took over in the second half of the set.
SET 4 | Jacksonville then responded to claim the match win with a 25-17 set-four victory. A strong performance on the attacking end led the Dolphins to victory in the set. Jacksonville registered a .432 attack percentage with 20 kills in the set win.
