The Jacksonville women's basketball team fell on the road to the South Florida Bulls, 75-57. The Dolphins (3-2) were led by sophomore forward
Saniyah Craig, who finished with a 13 point, 12 rebound double-double.
After a slow start, Jacksonville responded by out-scoring the Bulls 16-11 in the second quarter. The Dolphins went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to five at the end of the first half. They shot 7-14 in the quarter to stay in striking distance.
Freshman guard
Comari Mitchell helped keep Jacksonville close in the first half. She came off the bench to score six points, all coming on contested, pull-up jumpers.
Jacksonville continued to stay close through the third quarter. While USF took the early edge, the Dolphins responded behind senior guard
Edyn Battle and an improved offensive showing. Battle converted an and-one opportunity to make it a five-point game heading into the final frame.
The Dolphins couldn't close the gap in the fourth quarter, as the Bulls pulled away thanks to a strong display behind the arc. South Florida outscored Jacksonville by 13 and shot 5-5 from deep to close out the game.
Game Notes
- Freshman guard Comari Mitchell and freshman forward Mariah Knight both set new career highs for points with nine and seven, respectively.
- Sophomore forward Saniyah Craig recorded 12 rebounds. She has 32 rebounds in her last two games.
- Craig also recorded her first double-double of the season. She finished with 13 points and 12 boards.
- Senior guard Edyn Battle finished with 19 points. She scored 13 in just the second half.
