JACKSONVILLE, FL --The Jacksonville Volleyball team got the job done in straight sets (25-18, 25-23, 25-17) to take down West Georgia Saturday at home in Senior Night at Swisher Gymnasium.
The win moved the Dolphins' record to 14-12 overall and 9-5 in ASUN action.
The Dolphins were led by a double-double from Claire Mrukowski, who registered 13 kills and 11 digs on the day. Breanna McDonough also added eight kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Kristina Nika chipped in for with 13 digs to go with five blocks from Haley Yount.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Dolphins grabbed control of the set-one lead at 4-3 and never looked back to win 25-18. Jacksonville led by eight points at 24-16 before closing out the set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Jacksonville put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-23 victory in set number two. The Dolphins grabbed the set propelled by a solid showing on the attacking side. Jacksonville registered 16 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands six times, the Dolphins took control for good at 24-23 and rode that advantage to victory.
SET 3 | Jacksonville took set three to finish off the match. The Dolphins grabbed control of the set early when the score was 2-1 and never looked back to win 25-17. JU led by as many as 12 points at 18-6 before finishing off the set. The Jacksonville offense also got a boost from three aces in the set.
After the game, the team honored its seniors in a special post-game ceremony. #23 Madison Clark, #22 Myah Robinson, #5 Sofia Rampazzo, #10 Cami Kelsay, and #17 Emily Hodsdon were celebrated for their contributions to the program and their leadership on and off the court.
