JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville University softball team fell to the 19
th ranked Florida Gators 7-0 on Tuesday night.

Florida, which entered the game having allowed just three runs in five games, marking the fifth-lowest ERA in the country at 0.21, scored early and pitched well enough to keep the Dolphins (2-3) off the board. Ava Brown started in the circle for the Gators and pitched her first complete game of the season. The Gators capitalized on an error and a walk, scoring two quick runs in the first. Florida then added two more after a routine ground ball and an infield single, extending its lead to four.

Christa Pritchard, making her season debut for the Dolphins, then shut down the Gators' offense for the next two innings. Florida's offense went on to add an additional six runs, three in the fourth and three in the sixth, extending its lead to 10.

JU had base-runners reach early in the second and third innings but was unable to see those runners cross home.
Madison Bratek,
Madison Reynolds, and
Gabi Robles all reached base for the Dolphins, with Bratek reaching base twice.
The Dolphins used a pitching combination of
Ashlee Harwood,
Christa Pritchard,
Shelby Harpe, and
Reese Wells. The quartet of pitchers allowed four earned runs.

The Dolphins return to action tomorrow against the No. 19 Gators again, this time in Gainesville. First pitch is slated for 6 pm and the game can be streamed on SECN+.
