ATLANTA – Cassie Thompson was named Atlantic Sun Track Performer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon. 

Thompson, a junior from Freeport, Bahamas, has been one of the Dolphins' strongest performers so far this season. This week, in the Celebration Pointe Classic, Thompson led JU in all three sprint events. To open the meet, the Bahamas native led a surge of women, finishing 1st in the 200m dash (23.83) while setting a new personal best. On day two, Thompson recorded another personal best in the 400m with a time of 55.37, finishing second. 

Thompson is the second Dolphin this year to receive a weekly award, and the green and white are on a roll claiming ASUN honors for the second week in a row. 

The Dolphins return to action this Friday to compete in The Florida University Last Chance in Gainesville, FL. The meet is set for 8 a.m. and will be streamed live on FloTrack.
