Dolphins Drop Friday Night Matchup versus Titans

FULLERTON, Ca.- Jacksonville Baseball (5-8) was defeated by Cal State Fullerton (5-7) on Friday evening.

Evan Chrest was given the start on the bump and pitched 4.2 innings, giving up four hits, walking three and striking out four.

The Dolphins put a run on the board early in the top of the first when Tyler Hinrikus blasted a homerun over the left field wall.

The Titans responded by bringing in a run off of a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one. Chrest would get out of the inning striking out a Titan batter and effectively leaving runners stranded at second and third.

Fullerton would take the lead in the bottom of the second with a solo homer to left.

The next four innings were mostly quiet with only four hits combined by both teams.

In the seventh and the eighth inning, Fullerton added 10 runs, through a barrage of walks, wild pitches and some base hits. The Titans walked 15 times total in the game.

Jacksonville used six total pitchers throughout the game, surrendering 12 earned runs, and striking out nine.

The Dolphins added one more run on the board late, off a sacrifice fly from Nick DeLisi, scoring Hinrikus, but the game wrapped up shortly after that with the Dolphins taking the loss.

Three Strikes

1. Justin Nadeau extended his hitting streak to nine.

2. Tyler Hinrikus hit his first homerun of the season.

3. Jacksonville walked six times total as a team.
