Box Score ORLANDO, Fla.- The Jacksonville softball team fell to the UCF Knights 9-1 on Wednesday night.
Â
Three Dolphins reached base via walk, but a combined no-hitter from the Knights kept the JU offense limited in the midweek.
The Knights scored five in the second inning and four in the third inning. A walk and single to left center gave UCF its first run. After a pair of outs from the Dolphins defense, the Knights had three consecutive runners reach base before a three-run home run gave UCF its five-run inning. In the third, the Knights started the base reaching on five out of the first six at-bats, which scored an additional two runs, and an eventual passed ball and a groundout to third with runners on the corners saw UCF up 9-0 at the end of three.
In the fourth inning,
Madison Bratek started the frame with a walk, and
Madison Reynolds walked subsequently. After a foul out from
Allison Bratek advanced both Dolphin baserunners to second and third,
Kari Holzrichter hit a grounder to second base, which saw Holzrichter out at first, but Bratek crossed home to give JU its first run.
After a three-up, three-down bottom of the fourth from
Christa Pritchard, JU was unable to see another run cross home, which ultimately ended the game.
Skylar Waggoner (5-8) started in the circle for the Dolphins and pitched 1.2 innings. Out of the bullpen,
Reese Wells,
Jordan White and Pritchard all made appearances.
