Dolphins Complete First Day Of Classic City Clash

Game 1

ATHENS, GA --The Jacksonville Volleyball team lost in a close battle to Boston CollegeĀ 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 11-25, 23-25) on Friday.

The Dolphins were led by a double-double from Cami Kelsay, who registered 12 kills and 12 digs on the day. Madison Clark also added eight kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Sofia RampazzoĀ chipped in for with 12 digs to go with five blocks from Clark.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Dolphins fell in a back-and-forth first set, losing 25-23 in a game that featured three lead changes and was tied 13 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match.

SET 2 | Jacksonville responded to pick up a 25-22 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The PhinsĀ never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 after erasing a three-point deficit.Ā This came in a set that featured nine ties and five lead changes. The Jacksonville offense also got a boost from three aces in the set.

SET 3 | Boston College went up 2-1 after defeating the Dolphins in set three. The Dolphins dropped a tough set 25-11. Jacksonville trailed by as many as 14 points as Boston College grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was tied up three times before the Eagles took over the lead.

SET 4 | Jacksonville then lost a close fourth set 25-23 to finish off the match. The Dolphins fell in a set that featured six lead changes and was tied 13 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than three points along the way.

Cami Kelsay finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Dolphins attack. The Dolphins got 9 digs from Breanna McDonough to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Dolphins couldn't persevere past a furious Utah Valley rally in the first set, falling 25-23 after leading by eight points at 10-2 earlier in the set.

SET 2 | Jacksonville lost the second set 25-19, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Dolphins lost the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | Jacksonville couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Dolphins dropped a tough set 25-15. Jacksonville trailed by as many as 10 points as Utah Valley grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was tied up six times before the Wolverines took over the lead.
