TALLAHASSEE, FL --The Jacksonville volleyball team fell to Florida A&M, 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 16-25, 14-25) Saturday on the road.
Lauren Nelson finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Dolphins offense. Defensively the 'Phins had two players reach double figures in digs as Ana Tobar had 17 and Emily Collings had 10.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Dolphins fell behind early, dropping the first set 25-21. Jacksonville trailed by as many as eight points as Florida A&M grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was knotted up two times before the Rattlers took control.
SET 2 | Jacksonville rallied after dropping the first set to take the second set 25-16, evening the match at 1-1. The Dolphins took control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and never looked back, leading by as many as nine points at 24-15 before closing out the set, collecting 15 kills in the process. The Jacksonville offense also got a boost from three aces in the set.
SET 3 | Florida A&M responded to win set number three, putting Jacksonville in a two sets to one hole. The Dolphins fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set 25-16.
SET 4 | Jacksonville then fell in the fourth set 25-14 to finish off the match. The Dolphins trailed by as many as 11 points as Florida A&M grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 and the 'Phins weren't able to recover in a set that was knotted up four times before the Rattlers took over.
