Arias Tabbed As Preseason All-ASUN Team Member

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville sophomore guard Chris Arias was named to the All-ASUN Preseason Team, the conference announced Friday.

Arias has now been honored twice by the conference since joining the Dolphins. After the conclusion of last season, Arias was named to the All-Freshman Team.

The Jacksonville native joins nine other student-athletes from across the conference on the Preseason Team.

Bursting onto the scene at home against South Carolina State, Arias scored a career-high 19 points in his fourth college game. After recording just two points in the previous three contests, including a 0-10 mark from deep, the shooter went 5-6 from beyond the arc against the Bulldogs.

He finished the season with nine more double-digit scoring contests including four straight games in conference play with 10 or more points. Arias recorded a 17-point outing at UNF and a 14-point outing in the team's final regular season game against Stetson.

Appearing in all 33 games for the Dolphins, Arias recorded 21.9 minutes per game. That mark was fifth best on the team and tops among JU freshmen.

In terms of shooting, Arias shot 39.7% from the field all season and 41.0% from deep. Once he got to conference play, the Providence High School product turned it up a notch by shooting 42.9% from the field and a stunning 49.2% from downtown. He also played 22.9 minutes per game during ASUN competition.

Arias finished in the top 15 for 3-pointers made a game during ASUN play.

Along with Arias receiving his conference honor, Jacksonville received its preseason rankings from the conference coaches and media.

The Dolphins were picked to finish sixth overall in both the coaches and media polls. From the coaches, JU received 88 points, 11 points more than seventh place Lipscomb who won the ASUN Tournament last season. In the media poll JU earned 381 points, beating out Austin Peay's 351 points in seventh place.

Overall, Queens received six first-place votes from the coaches and finished first in the coach's poll. In the media poll, North Alabama earned 18 first-place votes, finishing first ahead of EKU (three points) and Queens (nine) to round out the top-3.
