Dolphins Shut Out Stetson at Home on Senior Night

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville men's soccer team secured a critical conference victory Saturday night, defeating Stetson 2-0 at Southern Oak Stadium. The Dolphins (4-6-3, 1-1-2 ASUN) were paced by goals in the opening minute and the final minutes, while goalkeeper Christian Sekanina registered his third shutout of the season.

Jacksonville wasted no time in seizing the lead, with Juan Pablo Gonzalez finding the back of the net just 59 seconds into the match (00:59) for the fastest goal of the season. The early strike provided the Dolphins with a 1-0 advantage that held through a tightly contested first half.

The Dolphins faced adversity early in the second half when they were reduced to 10 men following a red card issued to Leonardo Davi C Santos in the 56th minute (56:49). Despite playing down a man for the remainder of the match, Jacksonville's defense held firm. Iver Skorve provided insurance for the resilient Dolphins, scoring in the 86th minute (86:07) to seal the win at 2-0.

Sekanina recorded four saves in his 90 minutes of work for the shutout. Stetson (4-7-1, 1-2-1 ASUN) held a slight edge in total shots (13-12), but goalkeeper Nicolò Radaelli finished the night with six saves, facing eight shots on goal from the Jacksonville attack.
