JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to rival North Florida on Friday night at Hodges Stadium. A pair of goals late in the first half proved to be the difference, allowing the Ospreys to secure the conference victory.
North Florida opened the scoring in the 31st minute. Just four minutes later, the Ospreys doubled their lead when Anton Khelil found the net off an assist from Rentaro Miyakawa in the 35th minute.
Jacksonville's offense created opportunities in both halves, totaling 10 shots with five on target. Midfielder Romain Spailier led the attack with three shots, while forward Felix Kogler and substitute Juan Pablo Gonzalez each registered two shots, testing UNF goalkeeper Luciano Natoli. The Dolphins held an advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.
Goalkeeper Christian Sekanina recorded four saves in the match to keep the score tight, but the Dolphins were ultimately unable to break through the Ospreys' defense.
The result moves Jacksonville's record to 4-7-4 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play.
