DELAND, Fla. – The Jacksonville Dolphins earned a road ASUN win Sunday with a 4-1 victory over Stetson.
JU moved to 7-4-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the win, keeping Stetson blanked on the scoreboard for almost 76 minutes.
It took the fast-paced JU offense just 38 seconds to get on the board with a goal scored by
Madelyn Radtke, her second of the year. Less than five minutes later,
Manuela Restrepo netted her seventh goal of the season off an assist from
Layla Garcia-Moreno.
Between the pipes,
Pia Bozic got the start and made seven total saves. In the 72
nd minute, Bozic made a penalty kick save to keep the shutout alive until Stetson found the net a few minutes later.
In the 79
th minute,
Claudia Perez Avila put Jacksonville's third goal in, good for her second career college goal.
As is to almost be expected,
Alicia Rey Perez found the back of the net in the 89
th minute. That goal was Rey Perez's ninth of the season, leading the team and good for second best in the league.
By game's end, each squad lobbed 11 shots at the net. Radtke and Rey Perez each led the team with three shots each.
Jacksonville gets the Hatters again this week in a quick mid-week rematch. Stetson travels to JU on Thursday, Oct. 9. First kick is set for 7 p.m. The 'Phins will also get a rematch with FGCU this week, kicking off against the Eagles at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12 at home.
