Jacksonville To Conclude Fall Series at Florida Fall Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville men's rowing program is looking to close a historic fall season with a final triumph against its biggest in-state foes. The Dolphins will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., tomorrow for the Florida Fall Invite.

Jacksonville will face crews from Embry-Riddle, Stetson and Florida Tech in a full day of racing. The Dolphins will get to compete with most of the roster, racing five different crews including four eights.

JU already picked up a win over the Eagles and Panthers this fall, with the

Those four crews will start Saturday's racing in the Championship 5K at 9 AM. The 1K Championships start at 10 AM, with the different eights competing in separate heats.

JU's Varsity 8+ A will face Embry-Riddle's A crew, the Dolphins B eight will face Embry-Riddle's B crew, and the C and D crew will battle the Eagle's C crew.

The Dolphins will also race a four on Saturday. The 5K championship is slated for 9:40 AM against all three Florida rivals. In the 1K at 10:40 AM, JU will go head-to-head with Embry-Riddle once again.

Jacksonville's women's team will also be competing at the event.

Head Coach Preston Weinard
"I can't believe this race is already here, but I am so excited to see what these guys are capable of. We have been focused on raising our standard of volume and quality of training this fall, and the team has redefined what a successful fall looks like. Reliant on hard work, consistency, and positive team culture, we will take all that with us to Daytona and see how we stack up!

I'm proud of the team for developing and growing in so many areas this fall. When it comes down to it, we've competed against each other all fall and have really seen growth in that; now it's time to let it out against our opponents and execute "The JU Way". Lots of big team energy to come this weekend!"
