Jacksonville’s Top Crew Takes Top Spots At Florida Fall Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville men's rowing team took intrastate glory for the second time this fall, posting first place finishes in a full day of competitive rowing at the Florida Fall Invite.

JU's A crew took first place in the 5K and 1K events.

In the 5K, Jacksonville posted a time of 15:40.944, nearly 10 seconds clear of the field, to claim first place. The Dolphins battled Embry-Riddle head-to-head, taking the win by five seconds. The top crew took home top honors, but Jacksonville posted strong finishes across the program in a valuable opportunity to compete across the roster.

JU's B Crew finished in 16:56.700, a seventh-place finish, in the Championship 5K. The group finished second to Embry-Riddle in the 1K. For the C boat, they finished ninth in the 5K and just narrowly finished second in the 1K. The Dolphins finished in 03:38.791, less than a second behind the Eagles, by far the closest margin of any race --- men or women --- all day Saturday.

The D Crew placed 11th in the 5K and behind the C crew in the 1K sprint to close the event. Jacksonville's 4+ crew this weekend finished fourth in the 5K and behind hosts Embry-Riddle in the 1K. Saturday's results are another successful step in JU's momentum building fall series. The Dolphins took down intrastate crews at the First Coast Head Race to start the year, before taking a historic 4+ victory at the Head of the Charles.

Jacksonville will take this momentum to the spring competition series. Last year, the Dolphins posted a program-best finish at IRA Nationals and will look to continue their program momentum into a big spring season.
